The scent of Karen's Botanicals Balm of Gilead oil is sweet and clean, like the freshest spring day. Massage into tired muscles and joints, pour one tablespoon into hot bath water, or apply to minor skin irritations. Enjoy the uplifting scent!
This oil is nostalgic for Karen and we're fortunate that she is sharing both the oil and her story with us. Balm of Gilead is one of the first infused oils she made in 1981 while living on the banks of the Russian river in Kodiak, Alaska under a Balsam Poplar tree. In spring, the young buds of the tree began to secrete a yellowish sap that filled the air with a miraculous scent. She quickly consulted one of Jeanne Rose's herbals and learned people had been using this and similar saps for centuries to make analgesic oils (pain killers) wisely benefiting from the salicylic acid (the active ingredient in aspirin) in the resin.
Jeanne Rose, director of the Institute of Aromatic Studies, owned the first body care company in the U.S. to use aromatherapy in 1967. Now you can ease the pain with this wonderful, nature-scented oil from Karen's Botanicals! |
Ingredients: Olive oil*, Sunflower oil*, fresh buds of Populus balsamifera*, Vitamin E oil (Tocobiol non-GMO certified Mixed Tocopherols).
